Coral Reef Habitat

As a parent of two young children I have witnessed first hand their innate fascination with the natural world and seen this love of nature become a gateway to all things STEM. I wanted to build a model that would elicit that same innate fascination with science and the world around us for both children and adults. This combined with my fascination with corals that was sparked by husband’s micro reef tank shaped my choice of a Coral Reef Habitat.

Coral reefs are some of the most spectacular habitats on earth and contain about one fourth of all marine life. They also provide value through tourism, human food sources, sheltering nearby beaches, and chemicals that are used in medicine. Pollution and rising ocean temperatures are a major threat to corals and the ecosystems they support. It features a Green Bumphead Parrotfish, Box Jellyfish, Green Sea Turtle, and Lionfish.  As well as, Clownfish, Corals, Anemones, Sponges, Hermit crabs, Starfish, and  Sea urchins.
