Phytoplankton
"minute aquatic photosynthetic organisms (such as dinoflagellates, diatoms, and cyanobacteria)"
-Merriam Webster Dictionary
From the science portion of STEM, phytoplankton are some of the most important organisms on the planet. They are the base of aquatic food chains, and produce vast amounts of oxygen.
I choose to make this because of interesting microorganisms can look, even though most of the ones I choose are all very tube-like. Another thing I've noticed is alot of people think of microbial life as 2 dimensional, or flat, probably because of images from microscopes that need to be flattened between two pieces of glass to be seen. I wanted to show them like in nature, free floating in the ocean.
Some even glow when agitated, so I put that in as well.
Included a size chart, to make it more science-y, and only in micrometers to be little comical with the minifig.
