Monarch Moment

Many years ago, I was lucky to visit the monarch butterfly sanctuary in Mexico. Polaroids are perfect for capturing those brief moments when you don't have time to tamper with camera settings; a fast photo of a butterfly taken with your right hand while it rests on your left hand is the spirit of Polaroid! I have added some of the charming imperfections of this sort of photographs, all brick-built: overexposure in the top left corner, and vignetting in the bottom right corner. The bright primary colours also scream "Polaroid", and let's not forget the possibility of adding notes to the bottom of the frame for the perfect memento!

The build comprises about 3000 pieces, at three different depths behind the frame.
