Explorer Pod

A one-minifigure space capsule for exploring new worlds.  The main section is a laboratory with tools and computers for analysing rock samples and other specimens.  Access to the outside world is through a hatch in the floor of the lab, which opens downwards together with a ladder.  Above the lab is a cockpit with flight controls.

Hinges allow the capsule to be opened to access the inside, with a clip to hold it shut when closed.
