Durmstrang Ship Bursts Out of Hogwarts' Lake
One of the most memorable entrances to Hogwarts (and also my favorite!) wasn't Harry's. As you can tell from the title, my favorite entrance to Hogwarts was when Durmstrang's ship came out of the lake. I love the idea of a ship that goes underwater and pops out in a different, landlocked lake.
As you can see, I did not base my model on the Durmstrang ship from the movies, rather, I made a model of what I imagined the ship to look like when I read the book. I'll admit, I did go a little overboard (pun intended!) with the evilness of the ship, but I was just having too much fun adding the snakes, scorpions, and figurehead with a knife!
I am really proud of my LEGO model of the ship, which has 994 pieces, and I tried to make it look old and sinister, since Durmstrang is a dark-arts oriented school. I regret that the ship doesn't have sails, but LEGO Digital Designer, where I designed it, doesn't have virtual sails. I would appreciate any and all of your feedback in the comments below!
