"No More'n Four to a Boat"
For First year students, the sight of Hagrid was surely surpassed by the sight of Hogwarts! In the book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the students take that famous journey across the lake in their little boats, gliding across the water. The boats then carry them through a curtain of ivy to a wide opening in the cliff face and into an underground harbour. Hagrid helps them out of the boats and they follow up the passageway, leading them to a patch of grass and a path to the castle. Of course, Trevor, Neville's frog, made the journey too. While we don't see this in the movie, I like to imagine it would look something like the build I created. Using various rock wall techniques, transparent tiles for water, plant shapes that can easily retract for playing, and using contrasting brick colours to show the darkness of the recessed tunnel, I can begin to imagine what this harbour might truly look like. What adventures await these new students!
