SCENE: The Finding of the Ring
"But then, something happened that the Ring did not intend. It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable. A Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, of the Shire."
In the year 2941 of the Third Age, BIlbo Baggins was traveling to the Lonely Mountain in the company of Thorin Oakenshield. Traveling through the Misty Mountains, the group was waylaid by goblins and Bilbo was separated from the group. He found himself by a subterranean lake, where he discovered a golden ring; which would forever change his life and the fate of Middle Earth. From his lair in the distant rock, Gollum's sharp eyes perceived life on the shore. He did not yet realize his Precious had abandoned him.
At just over 1200 parts, I attempted to capture the oppressive yet expansive feel of Gollum's Lair. Tiles were used for the water to give it a murky, eerie feel. Chrome black panels on the sides reflect the light of the lake and let it fade into the gloom. This small event would lead to the start of the War of the Ring!
