Macunaíma
This project attempts to tackle the concepts of time and determination of the african people and their descendents, through the past, present and future. The minifigure is shown crossing a river, in parallel to the mythical character Macunaíma, from the book by Mário de Andrade, a brazilian poet. In contrast to Macunaíma, who passes through the magical river and abandons his heritage, this project wishes to do the opposite, by rescuing the history and hope of all black people. The background is composed of three scenes, the white, which represents the genesis of African culture, the brown, which showns the expansion of african culture through europeian intervention, and the black, which represents the future of african culture, in a beatiful and sustainable metropolis. The aesthetic is a combination of micro scale buildings, with the minifigures in the river. The major inspiration was the brazilian Ciclogravura, little bottles of colorful sand with buildings and landscape engraved.
