The Grand Karate Dojo
In
celebration of the first Olympic karate competition (a sport of Japanese origin
and practiced around the world), to be held at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021.
I built a large karate dojo, where the minifigures train under the sensei's
watchful eyes.
This
set consists of 781 pieces. The Grand Karate Dojo has 3 floors and an
architecture inspired by traditional Japanese buildings.
On the
first floor there is a tatami for training. There is also two makiwara, a gong
and a torii (gate) that holds a bokken (wooden sword), elements of Japanese
culture and of oriental martial arts.
On the
second floor we have more training equipment (punching bag and sparring dummy),
these of western origins, which represent the spread of this sport around the
world. In addition to a pile for breaking boards and another for breaking
bricks.
And
the third floor is where some more equipment (target pads and bo staff’s),
medals and trophies. There is also a bonsai, cared for according to Japanese
traditions.
