Walking Sabre Tower
One of my childhood LEGO memories:
In 1989 LEGO launched a new theme: Pirates!
As part of the promotion there was a local contest.
To participate you had to finish the slogan "I love LEGO Pirates because...".
I was excited to win the set Sabre Island 6265!
It became the first of my numerous Pirate sets.
Time flies and for the first time in 36 years, I am again participating in a LEGO contest. Appropriately I chose Sabre Island as inspiration.
The old tower has been brought to life with a twist.
A Soldier and Pirate have updated their gear with the magic of imagination!
This set is build to be played with.
It is sturdy and has play features:
- Posable limbs on both the Walking Sabre Tower and Giant Monkey
- Rotating gun barrels
- A compartment for a the treasure chest
- The Giant Monkey can carry either the (firing) cannon or the treasure chest
- 2 Minifigures and a small monkey and parrot.
It is sturdy, fun, nostalgic, cool-looking and has clever use of bricks.
What LEGO set or theme inspired your build?
