AT8-6T Car Chassis
This model is inspired by set 8860 Car Chassis from 1980. Of all the Lego models this one probably made the biggest impression on little me. It has basically taught me how mechanical gears, steering and differentials work. And yet to date if I talk to people about the values of Lego, this is the set most likely being brought up.
I love the Speed Champion line-up and for this build I used the 8 studs width as a guide to fit together with the branded models. For this modernized car chassis I tried to represent the mechanical aspects of the original, like: Steering, Gearbox, Suspension, Engine and Radiator. Along with overall shape and iconic colors.
It does comfortably fit two mini-figures. The steering-wheel is off-centered, just like the original. The divider is moved a bit to the front so the car wouldn't get too long. There are some connection-points for an imaginary car-body. And the engine can be either boxer or V-shaped and can easily be removed and replaced by a custom version.
