Intergalactic Crater Excavation
I was inspired by Lego Space baseplates with the molded crater on them. In this set, I created my own brick built Crater. I would never have been able to do brick built pieces when i was a kid. The pieces simply didn't exist.
Also, a big difference in today's Lego sets is the way new Lego mini figures create emotion, that is something the old mini-figures could never do, with their classic face prints (which I still adore!)
My modern twist includes creating that emotion within a very otherwise bland space scene, as well as using new parts to create playability.
The space baby on the conveyor belt about to be incinerated by the laser creates the emotion in the set. The frantic space Lego miner rushes to turn off the laser, while trying to radio his friend laser cutting the sapphires, but his laser cutter is to loud and cannot hear. This "tickles" me and provides a profound connection as the designer.
My set also has 3 playability functions: The conveyor belt, radar, and laser all move
