ATLANTIS Typhoon Turbo Sub – 8068 Remake
When I heard about this challenge, I instantly knew I'd remake a set from ATLANTIS - one of my all-time favorite LEGO themes. Despite owning only a few sets, I’ve always loved its iconic color scheme, creative vehicle designs, and cool underwater enemies. I chose 8068 Typhoon Turbo Sub, a set I remember fondly for its playability - especially its unique play feature: flipping turbines controlled by a slider at the bottom of the model. While remaking it, I set three goals:
keep the model visually close to the original
improve existing function(s)
add new function(s)
I replaced the flick-fire missiles with spring-loaded shooters for better power and reliability. I also added a new function: a rear gear that spins the propellers when turned (thanks to part 35185). Overall, I believe the model is still instantly recognizable, but now offers improved design, enhanced playability, and an extra dose of fun.
