Recon Robot Version 2.0

I really wanted to re-make a build from my childhood for this challenge; I've always had a soft spot for the Recon Robot set, so I wanted to honour it by modernizing it with lego pieces that didn't exist when the set was initially released.

I tried to stay as true to the original model as possible and kept some key elements - like the safe for storing stolen tech, the rear hatch, and the printed spyrius tiles. The fully articulating limbs and head allow so much more movement than the original model. The hands are also able to hold onto objects securely.

The tank treads used a lot of pieces, which made it hard to stay under the 250 piece limit, but I think my submission captures the magic of the original set while adding some new style.

I was inspired by the original box art to re-create some similar retro space themes for some of the backgrounds - these are original images that I created for this competition.
