Hogwarts : House Cup
The Hourglasses of the Hogwarts' House Cup
The House Cup is awarded to the Hogwarts house whose members have earned the most points during the year. Hogwarts Professors give points for actions that reflect well on a student's house, such as academic achievement and bravery. The students and professors are very competitive for this honour.
Throughout the school year, points earned or lost by students are represented by the flow of four hourglasses.
When Harry arrives at Hogwarts, Gryffindor have not won the cup in six consecutive years. At the end of the year, Dumbledore awards last-minute points to Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville for their actions in protecting the Philosopher's Stone.
