The Gilded Drake

I originally designed and built this Imperial clipper to pair with the Creator Pirate Ship (31109). She's not as big as her counterpart, but I like to think she makes up for it in speed and firepower.

The hull is repurposed from set 60221 (sans stickers) and the sails are brick-built - I'm particularly fond of the jib in front. It features 6 stud shooter cannons, a moveable rudder, a ship's wheel, and an anchor with rotating capstan and chain.

The upper deck is removable to expose the captain's quarters below, which features a trap door underneath the captain's chair leading down to a private hold. The ship's figurehead is a golden dragon in flight and so I've dubbed this vessel 'The Gilded Drake'.

My goals for this build were to create an Imperial vessel for play and a simpler, more affordable pirate-era ship using mostly typical parts from other sets. I haven't checked where I landed in terms of overall cost but it was lots of fun to create.
