Drag racing and Mustang have went together since the beginning. In the 80s/90s, the 5.0 Mustang became the car to have for the amateur drag racer. Many quickly figured out that the 5.0 LX coupe or "notchback" was the hot ticket due to its lighter weight.

A great day could be had by taking your Mustang down to the local drag strip and testing it against the clock.Even if you were not the fastest, it was still great fun.
