Art: Havoc on Daily Bugle
The competition says you shall create a cover that hasn’t been used before. Although Marvel has created comic book covers as a newspaper, their artworks are different from mine.
My entry for this competition shows that Daily Bugle has been under a re-construction due to havoc on the building, blaming Spider-Man for the cause. It also ‘celebrates’ Mysterio’s birthday, features interviews with Spider-Ham and Ghost Spider, and you can read about how staff made newspapers at home while Daily Bugle was being re-constructed.
There are also some references on the cover. If you cannot spot ‘em, check the list below.
- The cover shows it’s ‘Issue 106’, but what if ‘106’ also was a date? That would be (0)1/06 = 1st June - the date the set ‘Daily Bugle’ (76178) was released.
- The article ‘Mysterio turns 57 this June’ is a reference to June 1964 where Mysterio debuted.
- The barcode references the birth/debut of: Stan Lee (28/12/1922), Jack Kirby (28/08/1917) and Spider-Man (08/1962).
