Volcanic Lair of the Red Lion

The volcanic lair of the Red Lion inspired this set. It includes a lava flow that streams down the side of the rockface, pooling into a large lake of molten magma. A jagged rock bridge curls in front of the lair entrance. The two upper sections of stone can be removed to reveal the Red Lion's home, complete with a portal to the Castle of Lions and high speed transport craft. And last but not least is a small scale build of the Red Lion!

 

I had a lot of fun building this model, and my main goal was to play up the contrast between the gray rocks and the orange lava. It was a fun challenge to try and get the rock bridge to have a bit of a curved shape, but still look solid when complete. I didn't initially intend to include the small scale Red Lion, but as the build progressed I knew it wouldn't be complete without the main character! Definitely a great contest for one of the coolest shows out there!
