Antique Microscope (Functional)
This build is inspired by the microscope used by Robert Hooke (1635-1703). In 1665, he produced a book called Micrographia which was the first publication to include illustrations of plants and animals as seen through a microscope.
Like Hooke's version, mine features a microscope and a specimen holder which can both be adjusted to vary the focus and angle of the view. Inside, a single minifigure magnifying glass accessory acts as a lens to magnify the image when you look through the eyepiece. My version may lack the magnification power of Hooke's (which had 3 lenses) but it does work!
Inside the base, a removable drawer allows you to store a range of specimens. (minerals, plants and animals).
The microscope can also be removed from the stand and used as a handheld magnifying aid to allow young (and not so young) budding scientists to explore the world around them!
Finally, I've also included a minifigure scaled version.
