Training for Space Travel: G-Force Human Centrifuge

The G-force Human Centrifuge is an essential piece of equipment for budding astronauts to train in prior to space travel. Using it they can experience the increased gravitational forces experienced as space shuttles accelerate away from the earth.

Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are integral subject areas employed in the designing, building, and operation of such an advanced piece of equipment.

The build features a geared mechanism where turning the wheel powers the centrifuge. Red studs on fly wheels indicate the movement of the axles and provide an educational visual aid on gearing ratios and how increased speed can be achieved.

The physical model featured in the gif is functionally the same as the designed model, however some pieces are substituted with alternatives due to the limited colours and pieces I have in my Lego collection.
