    A Tribute to Florence Nightingale

Florence Nightingale was an English social reformer, statistician and the founder of modern nursing. She became an icon in the persona of "The Lady with the Lamp" making rounds of patients at night.
Nightingale was a pioneer in statistics. She presented her analysis in graphical forms and developed a form of the pie chart, now known as the polar area diagram. This diagram is still regularly used in data visualisation. Nightingale was also a versatile writer. In her lifetime, she wrote much books and even more letters.

This tribute to Florence Nightingale shows how she is caring in an unhealthy environment (depicted by rats). On the wall is an image of her now famous polar area diagram; the desk contains a letter she wrote.
The working water well depicts a typical story of her life. Nightingale became famous when she discovered that poor water quality heavily influenced the health of the people she cared for.
