Synth - A Retro Journey
"A ship from another time and space finds itself on an unknown world. The music kicks in and the light washes over. All they can do is sit back and enjoy the journey."
The aesthetic of 80's retro futurism was a primary inspiration for this Pop-Up design, added along with the graphical style of Synthwave music, which was the reason for the sound equalizer design in the model. The grid pattern, the mountains, the neon lighting, the looming evening sun and the color scheme are, of course, recognizable aspects of 80's retro design.
The futuristic city was interesting to create. Due to the mountains behind the city, the buildings can only be 1 stud thick. Although some of the buildings are higher than 8 brick and 1 stud, I still made sure it would fit properly with all the decorations when folded up. The mechanism used to raise the evening sun and the light pillars is the same one used in the Jack and the Beanstalk Pop-Up insert.
Only the default connection points are used in the insert.
