FIND-A-BRICK

The Challenge:

Finding bricks. My girlfriend and I have different opinions on the matter of searching for LEGO bricks. She often builds from instructions, where she enjoys the puzzle of searching for the individual bricks. I on the other hand mainly build from my own imagination. In my creative process i see the search for bricks as a strong challenge towards the creative flow. Spending a few minutes finding a single brick in a mountain of bricks may loose valuable opportunity of inspiration.

The Idea:

Augmented Reality to help finding bricks. Imagining sitting with a big pile of bricks, you need a specific brick, but can’t find it. Who is better to guide you, than your favorite mini-figure?

By using augmented reality on your smart device you can interact with your building buddy. The reverse camera on your smart-device can be used to monitor your choice of mini-figure to operate the FIND-A-BRICK device. An AR algorithm will analyse the video feed to identify specific shapes and colors, and highlight them for you.

An algorithm will add a layer of animation to the mini-figure. Suddenly you are talking to your favorite mini-figure, and getting help from maybe Luke Skywalker to find pieces for your master build.
