Moon to Mars Initiative Ship: Escapade
This rocket, the Escapade, is a fully integrated, multifunctional way to get humans to Mars. The ship will be constructed in orbit around the Moon to save money on launch costs. The parts are as follows. In picture #2, are the cargo pods. In orbit above Mars, the claws holding the pods in will open, releasing the pods and they will use small thrusters to direct them to the landing site. The pods can carry both crew and cargo. Picture #3 depicts the crew stage of the orbiter, which includes a telescope for deep space imagery during the journey. Picture #4 shows the fuel tank and large thrusters. To help use less fuel, the craft will orbit the moon until finished and prepped, then use the Earth and Moon's gravitational pull to help launch it towards Mars. Picture #5 shows an inflatable habitat that the astronauts will sleep, eat and work in. One half of the habitat fits in each cargo pod. Once in orbit, solar arrays will fold out and the ship will become a space station orbiting Mars.
