Abeona - Martian orbital space station
The Abeona, named after the Roman goddess of outward journeys, is the first interplanetary ship to be assembled in Lunar orbit for the 7-month journey to Mars. The modular design allows elements to be constructed on Earth and be transported to the Moon for assembly. Hall thrusters power the spacecraft, taking it and its crew of astronauts into Martian orbit where the Abeona switches the role of a space station orbiting the planet, similar to the ISS around the Earth. It then provides accommodation, storage and lab space and acts as a gateway for missions to the Martian surface. Attached to the forward docking ring of the Abeona is a landing shuttle, the Janus.
Janus - Landing shuttle
Named after the Roman god of transitions, the Janus shuttle provides a reusable way for robotic and human explorers to transfer between the Abeona and the Martian surface. Its large cargo hold has space for rovers as well as materials to establish human habitation.
