Armstrong Mars Orbital Station
This interplanetary spacecraft will take astronauts from the Moon out to Mars. Once at Mars, it will remain in orbit, some astronauts will stay aboard while others will go down to the martian surface. It consists of sections manufactured on the lunar surface and assembled in lunar orbit. Front to back, these sections are:
- Navigation/Flight Control (due to radio delay between Earth and Mars, this will also serve as a minor Mission Control while in martian orbit)
- Solar Power & Communications/Observational Array
- Primary Science Lab
- Living Quarters (the centrifugal effect of the rotating modules creates artificial gravity, adjusting the speed changes the perceived gravitational force to also prepare the astronauts for the lower martian gravity)
- Secondary Science Lab
- Docking Node (up to four martian landers can be docked here to take astronauts down to the martian surface)
- Radiation Shelter (without Earth's magnetic field, astronauts must take shelter here in case of a solar flare)
- Main Engines
