Microscale Forestmen's River Fortress
I feel that I arrived on the LEGO scene at nearly the right time. I grew up in the 90's so I got to see a lot of the iconic themes that took shape really find their true identity. One of my favorite themes was always castle. I can't remember if I was interested in castles first or LEGO first but I know that I loved both growing up. The first sets that I really invested in were the Knights Kingdom sets in the mid-2000's. As I got more interested in the history of LEGO I started to look back at the sets that I was too late to get during their run. I found myself drawn to the Pirates, Caste, and Western themes and the sets that I had missed out on.
The Forestmen's River Fortress was the first castle set I was able to get my hands on after it had already retired. Looking back now even, it is still my favorite Forestmen set. It stands as a mix of castle and forest while even incorporating a water element. I love that the Knight's Castle from this year will feature the Forestmen!
