Past, Present, and Future Continents

We all know what a map of the world today looks like, but what about in the distant past or even the distant future?

This exhibit displays several maps depicting what the Earth's continents look like both long ago and far ahead. The sequence begins with the supercontinent of Pangaea, then its breakup into the continents we're familiar with today, then continues ahead with where the continents will go next and ultimately rejoining into the next supercontinent.

From 250 million years ago to 250 million years into the future, these maps display how the Earth's continents are always on the move, even if the process is too slow for us to ever really see it in action.
