Space: Exploring the Nebula
Even in deep space, maintenance tasks need to be performed. Near a Jupiter-type gas giant, the P7022 Heavy Cruiser makes a rendezvous with two scanning tugs so that the crew can upgrade the main radar dishes.
In the early 1980s, I packed away most of my LEGO, but I did retain some of my last builds from those days. Now, combined with my hobby of photography, they can experience a new lease of life!
The P7022 Cruiser (the red and blue craft) survives from around 1982. If I was to build it now, I would probably have to swap out some pieces which are obsolete (e.g. the tailpiece which was part of set 698 in 1977). The white craft is a slight upgrade (and colour change) to a build from 1980, and I handmade small stickers of panels to enhance some blank areas. The little grey scooter is another of my designs from around 1980.
The models were photographed against black drape. The planets, stars and nebula were digitally painted via Photoshop.
