Vintage Transportation: The Night Chaser
In the year of 1871, the steam revolution was at its height and the concept of steam racing was becoming wildly popular. The first steam racer to be built was, of course, the Night Chaser! It was designed by Thomas Vandauf (the minifig shown in the picture above). Made for high speed racing, the Night Chaser was capable of reaching 150 mph, which was a record breaking speed for that time. No other steam invention had ever traveled that fast. The Night Chaser was showcased around the world, inspiring and challenging other inventors to try the concept for themselves!
