Torii Gate

This is a traditional Japanese Torii Gate found all over Japan. Distinctive in shape and colour often featuring red posts topped off with black features although they can be grey or natural wood. One of the most famous can be found near the island of Itsukushima otherwise known as Miyajima in the Hiroshima Prefecture. This gate is in the Set Inland Sea. My model is based on a similar Torii situated near the shoreline of Lake Ashinoko at the foot of Mount Hakone. I chose this gate as it stands in the water and allowed me to use a combination of transparent coloured plates and tiles to achieve a satisfying water effect. These tiles are featured right up to the edges of the base to give the appearance that it is a slice of the lake.
The model should offer all Lego fans an enjoyable build which results in an iconic traditional Japanese feature that would look fantastic in any collection.
