Venice Beach Skatepark
A year of adventure,
Old friends and new places,
Travelling far and wide,
Drifting with the tide.
I arrive at the West Coast,
The sand is warm and soft,
The ocean glistens,
I breathe it in and listen.
Waves dance and ripple,
Seagulls sing and chatter,
The crowd hums in the heat,
And then, wheels on concrete?
Sure enough I see them,
Rolling, leaping, floating,
Countless skateboard riders,
And my people, the inliners.
One blader stands out,
Huge air, effortless grinds,
Speed, grace, it's a show,
Their spirit shines in the flow.
I'm transfixed in awe,
Peace, joy, and contentment,
Hold the moment still,
I'm alive, it's a thrill.
