Roaring Falls
My favorite memories are always set in the outdoors (at least all the ones that don’t have to do with LEGO building). This Polaroid snapshot is of a particular memory of a hike towards a waterfall through beautifully colored botanical gardens. My build showcases both the colorful blooms and the roaring waterfall. On this trip is where I fell in love with the monkey pod tree. In recreating this memory, I had to depict this gorgeous tree, which can be scene in the upper left of the Polaroid photo.
I chose to break into the 3rd dimension and built the scene in a 4-brick deep shadow box that is connected to the Polaroid frame. I chose this method because I thought it would help me capture the depth of the scene. Since it’s a box, it can also sit on its own so that I can have it on my desk to remind me of my time spent in paradise.
I love learning new building techniques and this build challenged me with studs-not-on-top building, and it was a lot of fun!
