Nature: DNA Strand

Towering 59 bricks high, this DNA strand is extremely complex. There's nothing else quite like it. The heart of this project is to help demonstrate the complexity of life's code through an artistic perspective. 

The DNA double helix structure is built using a mixture of round 1x1 bricks and classic 1x2 bricks, giving the curves. The middle "bars" are held in place using technic pins through the 2x2 round bricks. This entire structure has a true double helix twist (image #3) that changes depending on the viewer's position (compare image #1 with #5). 

Color wise, I balanced the dark red strand with the brighter blue/green bar colors, and the red strand with the darker blue/green colors. I believe this helps to give a balanced appearance. Each color represents one of four nitrogen bases found in DNA.

The entire build is 59 bricks high total (this includes both the base and DNA strand combined). Both the DNA strand and the support base are very sturdy, even where they connect.
