Minifigure: Clockwork--First Day of School
A minifig experiences what many of us have before: he doesn't feel ready for the first day of school! Turn the crank, and he spins to reveal the transformation and cycle between two states--ready with a smile to turning back with nerves.
Video of mechanism in action:
To celebrate the quirks, fun, and versatility of Lego minifigs, this was inspired by the famous double-sided heads and the ability to rearrange limbs into expressive poses.
Out of that grew the story of a first day with the school bus and another house built in micro and seen as distant by forced perspective.
Just for fun, there is a window next to the crank revealing what lies beneath the house. Press the button on the light brick to see the gears in action and a mustachioed minifig in overalls with an oil can.
I know this is one of the simpler clockwork designs on Lego Ideas, but I still had fun bringing this to life and hope you enjoy!
