Ice Climbing
This winter scene, built on a 16x32 base plate, has the four folks from the A-Frame cabin and a guide ice climbing in the Adirondacks. They test their strength, balance, and overcome fear as they ascend a frozen waterfall.
I built the set with my 5 year old son. The structure utilizes part 6082 & 6083 (BURP pieces). The ice is formed with opalescent trans-blue pieces from set 43197 and trans light-blue round bricks and plates with some clear and trans dark-blue mixed in to add texture/detail. The set is built entirely from my personal collection including some hidden gems, such as part 6042 from the1990s (where the main ice flow starts).
Winters are becoming shorter and more irregular, making the moments when we get to safely climb ice less consistent. This is one of my absolute favorite activities, and I treasure every time I get out. This set reminds me how much fun it is, how much I enjoy being outside in winter, and that we need to do everything we can to protect our planet.
