Crokinole - Flicking Fun!

No trip to a log cabin is complete without a game of Crokinole!

Crokinole is a table-top game that borrows from shuffleboard and curling. It is played by 2 or 4 players using wooden discs on a wooden board. The highest score wins after all 24 discs are flicked into (or knocked out of!) play. See this Wikipedia link for more information.

About the build

My goal was to create a playable Crokinole game using LEGO elements. The actual game is played on a playing surface that is 66 cm in diameter, using discs 32 mm in diameter. After surveying the available LEGO elements that could be used for the discs, I ended up basing the design off the 3x3 round tile element.

With some help from trigonometry, I built the playing surface and its lines. The pegs on the inner most circle use 4L bars stuck into 2L Technic pins. The design is finished off with a simple box to store the discs.

Staying true to the game, I used various colours of brown for the board, playing surface, and the discs.
