Biodiversity on a Duplo Baseplate
I'd head straight for a clearing in the forest and crouch down to explore the undergrowth. Here, a rich diversity of life can be found: Moss, lichen, fungi and small creatures all contribute towards feeding the trees that tower high above. Have a closer look: How many species can you see in an area the size of one Duplo baseplate?
The inspiration for this build came from the only Duplo set I owned (10574 Creative Ice Cream). The ice cream scoops with their two-toned effect reminded me of mushroom caps. After building the mushrooms, I created the log and the creatures. The effect I wanted to achieve was of a macro-scale habitat, hence the use of chunky Lego elements such as the green hair pieces (moss) and propellers (leaves) in combination with Duplo. Each stage of the build had its own challenges but the spider web was definitely the hardest!
This build was designed to be viewed from all angles. Thank you for looking :)
