X-29V Phoenix

In the year 2049, inspired by the V-22 Osprey, the X29-V Phoenix has been created. The X-29 has been fitted with two state of the art scramjet engines which have been mounted on a rotating axis to allow a 360° field of motion. This allows the X-29 to travel at a little over Mach 20 (20 times the speed of sound) while cruising (17,500 mph or 28163.5 kmh). When landing, the rear of the plane comes down to act as a sort of landing gear, and the scramjets rotate back to 0 degrees (Picture 1 and 3). While cruising, the thrusters rotate forward to 270 degrees which is facing forward (Picture 4). This experimental aircraft can carry a maximum of 5 people comfortably and is not yet being used commercially.

Functions:

The rotation of the scramjets is controlled via a worm drive to the 16t gear on top (Picture 5).

The rear comes down via a small linear actuator to the 20t gear visible on the bottom right of the aircraft (Picture 2).

This project was made of 100% LEGO Technic pieces. Enjoy!
