Memorial to Space Animals

In 1783 a sheep, duck and rooster took flight in the newly invinted hot air balloon. Since that time, animals have been the test subjects for all kinds of flight. This model is dedicated to all the animals who were used in testing space flight. Many of them failed to make it back alive. In total, 32 monkeys and 12 dogs were launched into space. The first animals in space were fruit flies and the first to orbit was a dog. Without their heroic contributions, man would have never made it to the moon.
