A Slice into Earth
This contest about space inspired me to build this diagram showing the layers of Earth, not only as an educational tool, but as a cool display piece for LEGO fans. The red represents the mantle which in reality consists of the lithosphere, asthenosphere, and the mesosphere. Below that, the orangish tan layer represents Earth's outer core and finally the bright yellow inner core which mostly contains iron in real life. Since Earth's crust is so thin on our planet, any visible green or blue elements that are exposed above the red "mantle" represents Earth's crust.
On top of accurately representing the Earth's layers, I went the extra mile to accurately depict Earth's continents as well. In fact, you could call it a miniature globe. I hope this piece will educate people of all ages about what's beneath our feet because that's what makes up the whole Earth.
