Kiri Explores Pandora

This interactive model depicts the scene in Avatar: Way of Water where Kiri, played by Sigourney Weaver, explores the jungles of Pandora. In the scene, Kiri wanders by large purple pitcher plants and marvels at the Fan Lizards taking flight. She then finds a grassy clearing and lays down. The blades around her steadily pulse outwards.

The subplot of Kiri developing a connection to Eywa was my favorite in the film. I wanted to build this scene because it visually conveyed the idea that nature is a living breathing thing around us, and we are a part of it. The scene evokes feelings of childlike wonder at nature's beauty. As a child, I was most fascinated by the interactive parts of Lego sets and how much was possible with such small bricks. Folks can turn the wheel to make the concentric grass rings surrounding Kiri rise and fall in sequence, creating a rippling effect.
