Architecture: Old Bridge
2048 studs baseplate and over 2000 pieces are the numbers of my work: one of the most famous wooden bridge covered by a roof in Italy.
Called "Ponte Vecchio" (Old Bridge) or "Ponte degli Alpini" (bridge of the Alpini, who rebuilt it in 1948), this bridge is located in Bassano del Grappa and spans the river Brenta, important means of communication in the 18th century from the mountains of Grappa to Venice.
Built in 1209, it was destroyed many times by nature (flood) and by humans (during the two World Wars) and each time rebuild; the actual design was projected in 1567 by the famous architect Andrea Palladio.
