The Black Diamond is an extension of the Royal Danish Library in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was designed by Danish architects Schmidt Hammer Lassen. Construction began in 1995 and it was opened in 1999. The building leans towards the water and to the left as seen from the water. The Black Diamond also expands slightly from the bottom to top. The black color comes from black granite known as Absolute Black.
