Musical: Music in the Air

Ninety years ago, the trumpet was the star of the big band jazz era. This piece celebrates the legacy of such greats as Louis Armstrong and Dizzy Gillespie, and their influence on today's musicians. It's also a celebration of transparent bricks and Technic beams, my favorite LEGO elements. The trumpet player in the foreground plays three-dimensional, transparent notes hanging from technic beams that travel all the way up to the roof, uniting in a rainbow of color with notes that jump right out of the mural into the air. The model is 64 studs wide x 60 tall x 32 deep.
