Edward Scissorhands
His story will touch you, even though he can't
Director Tim Burton started the decade with this quirky story of a man created by a mad scientist, who died before he could give him proper hands. After years of seclusion, Edward tries to live with the everyday folk of the town below his castle. Like a lot of Burton films, Edward Scissorhands is a modern day fairy tale, by turns touching and funny, exemplifying the director's unique style.
The build
I chose the classic scene where Edward first discovers his talent for dog grooming, by giving an unsuspecting pooch the poodle treatment! This takes place on the front lawn of a neighbour's house, between the dancing couple topiary Edward crafted. You never actually see inside the pink house in the movie, but I imagined the style to be similar to the other 60s retro houses in the film. There's another scene where you see a blue Plymouth Duster leave that house's driveway, so I also recreated this in 6-stud wide form.
