Description:
Inspired by the
solar system and its workings I decided to design this working earth and moon orrery. This model stands
at approximately 20cm tall, uses exactly 250 pieces and was designed to be a
fun, educational build and display piece. The half-exposed
gears become concealed in a
sleek black box that features easy to remove roof panels for access to the
interior workings. All the cogs work off a single handle piece featured at the
front of the box, that when rotated, represents the correct direction and speed
of the earth and moon rotation relative to each other.
