"Keep an Eye on the Staircases; They Like to Change."

After being sorted into their houses, the students leave the Great Hall to go to their common rooms. Tired and full of food, the Gryffindor students are led through the Grand Staircase Tower to the Gryffindor Common Room. 

I chose to build this scene from the first movie that shows how magical Hogwarts is.  The most difficult part of this model was the moving staircase in the center. Turning the crank on the side will make the stairway move.  The mechanism is not as complex as you may think, but incorporating it into the model seamlessly was especially challenging.  I also tried to choose the best characters from the scene to really bring the model to life.  The paintings feature a mix between realistic characters and Easter eggs from various movies and shows. 

This was one of the coolest projects that I have attempted, and it was a reward just to be able to build and share it.
