Arrival at Hogwarts
Arrival at Hogwarts
This is the
first time we have seen Hogwarts Castle on the big screen: Chris Columbus
(director) and Stuart Craig (set designer) created an iconic scene that showed
us a Hogwarts, that no one could have imagined before, all accompanied by the
epic score of John Williams.
This
memorable sight is the reason, why Hagrid introduces first-years to Hogwarts by
guiding them over the lake.
Harry sees
the castle for the first time, the place, that will become his home for six
years of his magical life.
The Model
My
recreation of this breathtaking shot consists of roughly 9000 pieces (more than
30000 including the water). Every tower, every wall and every roof (except the Gryffindor
one) are made entirely new and the rocks are all crafted piece by piece. This
was important as the castle changed throughout the movies, so I used screenshots
from this exact scene as my only reference material.
I hope you
like it and good luck to everyone!
